The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2024 was announced last night on American Idol. There are 16, but we’ll focus on the Performers category. For those we have Mary J. Blige, the Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, A Tribe Called Quest and Cher. Now, here’s the interesting thing about Cher. She’s been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1991 and, until this year, she’s never even made the ballot. She was ticked off about it. In December, she told Kelly Clarkson, “I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars. I’m not kidding you. I’m never going to change my mind. They can just you-know-what themselves.” Now we have to wait and see if Cher will stick to her word or actually show up for the induction ceremony. She’s got about 6 months to decide. The induction ceremony is set for Oct. 19 in Cleveland. It will stream live on Disney+ and the next day on Hulu. ABC will chop it up for a network special at a later date.

Methadone is used to treat people who are addicted to opiates by producing similar effects and preventing withdrawal symptoms. But in 2007, Eminem took a massive dose of methadone and almost died. And that’s when he decided to give up the pills and get sober. Yesterday, Eminem posted a photo of his open hand holding his 16-year sobriety chip. The coin features the tree of life with the number 16 inside a triangle and the words “Unity,” “Service” and “Recovery” in a circle around it. Among those congratulating Eminem in the comments are John Mayer, who posted a fist bump, and DefJam Records CEO Paul Rosenberg, who posted, “Sweet 16. So proud of you.”

Morgan Wallen finally broke his silence since being arrested for throwing a chair off the roof of Chief’s bar in Nashville. Friday night he tweeted, “I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility. I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change.” Morgan also had his first show post “chair-gate” a the University of Mississippi this past weekend. It was a makeup show from last year, when he abruptly canceled just minutes before going on stage, which caused a huge uproar.

It’s on!! David Beckham is suing Mark Wahlberg for, basically, screwing him over….allegedly. Back in 2021, David became a brand ambassador for F45 Training, a fitness company in which Mark has a 36 percent interest and serves as the chief branding officer. As part of his deal, David was supposed to receive stock in the company, but he claims F45 dragged its feet and didn’t give him his shares until the stock plummeted. And THAT, David claims, cost him $10M. So he’s suing Mark and the other partners in F45 to get what he believes he is owed.

The Tortured Poets Department is here and Swifties have spent the entire weekend memorizing and picking apart the lyrics, figuring out which song is inspired by which enemy or ex. But while many expected to spend the majority of her double album ripping Joe Alwyn to shreds, Taylor actually threw more direct punches at Matty Healy. That girl LOVED him! It’s almost like Joe was a placeholder until she was free to give that bad boy another try. As far as Joe is concerned, he hasn’t said anything and likely won’t. But those close to him told the Daily Mail he is less than thrilled. Leading up to the album’s release, the source said, “Joe has not said one word about Taylor or their breakup and has been completely respectful of her. It’s undeniable that the name of her upcoming album is in reference to Joe’s WhatsApp group chat. Taylor knocked him for the name of this when they were together. She didn’t want people to think that it had anything to do with her, so when he spoke out about it, she was, of course, bothered.” Again, this is before the album came out, and the source went on to say, “Joe has no reason to believe yet that she is going to dis him or their relationship. She writes about her past using code and points of reference. It may just be that she is reflecting on their time together and he is hoping it is nothing more. If it is a dis album, that is shady. He helped her with songwriting on her past album so it will really come as a shock to him if she talks about their breakup, as it is something he has not spoken of at all. Regardless of what she does, he will still not respond because he has removed himself from her narrative and is very glad he did.”

Okay, so that’s Joe. What about Matty? The majority of Tortured Poets is apparently about him, and he probably figured that would be the case. So when Taylor announced The Tortured Poets Department on Feb. 5, three days later during a concert, Matty went off, warning an unnamed person — obviously Taylor — “Do not come for me. Trust me. You know who I’m talking to. Honestly, you know who you are. I’m as mental as I seem. I have the receipts. Don’t (BLANK) with me. Trust me.”
