In movie news, this is in the early stages of development, but Prince’s 1984 movie Purple Rain is being turned into a Broadway musical! The movie is loosely based on Prince’s life story, and just like the movie, the stage version will follow a young artist known as The Kid and his rise to stardom while dealing with abusive parents and feuding with rival musicians. It will include Prince’s classics like Darling Nikki, I Would Die 4 U and, of course, Purple Rain. In case you missed it, Greta Gerwig is developing The Chronicles of Narnia films for Netflix. She told BBC Radio 4 that she’s slightly terrified about this because, as a non-British person, she feels “a particular sense of wanting to do it correctly.” Also, Linda Ronstadt is a legend in music and not enough young people today know her story. To remedy that, movie baed on Linda’s life is in pre-production with Selena Gomez in the starring role. And Gerard Butler will reprise his role as Viking leader Stoick in the live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon. We have to wait until June 2025 for that.

The start of the year has been very good for Kelly Clarkson. Not only did she right her final spousal support payment to her ex-husband, now her ex-husband has to cut Kelly a check for over $2.6M. A California labor commissioner has ruled that while he was working for his then wife, Brandon overcharged Kelly for his management services by $2,641,374. Of course, he’s planning to appeal. Page Six says according to the court documents, Brandon was found to have acted unlawfully when he booked gigs and signed deals for Kelly on The Voice, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Wayfair and the Billboard Music Awards. The labor commissioner says only talent agents, not managers, can secure employment for their clients. There are a few exceptions, but Brandon ain’t no exception. And Kelly didn’t win everything she wanted. Brandon gets to keep whatever percentage he took when Kelly signed the deal for her talk show.

On the Call Her Daddy podcast, Wiz Khalifa admitted that he shows up stoned for his 10-year-old son Sebastian’s parent-teacher conferences. He said the teacher “expect it,” adding, “They know what’s up. It’s not like back in the day (where) you’re considered a bad parent if you smoke weed.” He’s also pretty sure his son shows up to school smelling like weed, but isn’t sure because he can’t smell it. Wiz isn’t the least bit concerned about what the teachers or any of us think, either. He said, “(The teachers are) not going to get a fake version of me or this made-up parent that society makes you think that you’re supposed to be. I am who I am, and it’s not because I’m a celebrity or anything.”

He will never escape the stigma of wanting to eat people. “LOVE AT FIRST BITE!” is the headline the Daily Mail used to announce that Armie Hammer has found love again — and possibly married — a young, beautiful IT consultant from Kazakhstan named Marina Gris. Since October, Marina has been wearing a diamond-encrusted band and referring to Armie as her husband. However, a source close to Armie said he hasn’t proposed. Whatever their relationship is or isn’t, this news comes comes four months after Armie’s divorce from Elizabeth Chambers was finalized.

Michael Strahan took 3 weeks off from GMA last fall to deal with “personal family matters.” We now know that his 19-year-old daughter Isabella was diagnosed with brain cancer and had surgery to remove a tumor that was larger than a golfball. Michael and his daughter shared the news on GMA this morning. Isabella explained that back in the fall, she began experiencing excruciating headaches, nausea and dizziness. Like we all do, she searched her symptoms on the internet and thought she was suffering from vertigo. But then in late October, Isabella began throwing up blood. After an MRI, her doctor told her to go straight to the hospital, and that’s when she was told she needed immediate emergency surgery for a fast-growing tumor in the back of her brain. Isabella was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a malignant cancer which reportedly accounts for 20% of all childhood brain tumors, and is typically found in around 500 children each year. However, it’s most commonly diagnosed in children between the ages of 5 and 9, so this is an even more rare occurrence. On Oct. 27 — the day before she turned 19 — Isabella’s tumor was removed. She just completed radiation treatment and will soon begin chemotherapy. Isabella’s journey has been documented for a new YouTube series, which will help Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, NC.
.@MichaelStrahan's daughter Isabella opens up about her brain tumor battle, with Michael telling @RobinRoberts: “I know she's going through it, but I know that we're never given more than we can handle and that she is going to crush this.” https://t.co/zZJMG7h8OV pic.twitter.com/3GJE4O4jHj
