Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire earned $31.7M in its second weekend of release for another first place finish. Dev Patel wrote, directed and starred in Monkey Man, which he also co-produced with Jordan Peele. It debuted in second with $10.1M. This was originally supposed to stream on Netflix, but they reportedly got nervous about its political content. Coming in third in its third weekend was Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire with $9M, followed by The First Omen which opened in fourth with a way less than expected $8.3M. Kung Fu Panda 4 rounded out the top five, earning $7.85M in its fifth weekend of release.

“Oh yeah? You’re going to throw a backyard wedding for our mom with my ex-boyfriend? And THEN you don’t thank me in your Grammy acceptance speech?? Then I’m going to like a thirst trap photo of your ex-husband!” This may or may not have been the conversation Noah Cyrus had with herself before liking — and then unliking — a photo of a very swole Liam Hemsworth posting a gym selfie on #legday. Noah’s big sister Miley and Liam had a tumultuous relationship before they decided to throw caution to the wind and get hitched. They only made it a couple years before divorcing in 2020, but at least Miley can thank Liam for inspiring her award-winning single Flowers. But then Miley and Noah’s parents split a couple years later and the kids took sides. Miley chose mama and Noah chose daddy, but maybe that’s because mama chose to snatch Noah’s boyfriend away from her and marry him. But Miley is still Team Mama, thanking her and neither daddy nor Noah in her Grammy acceptance speech. So liking and unliking Liam’s thirst trap Instagram is the LEAST Noah could do.

Rebel Wilson’s memoir was released in the US last week, and it was also supposed to be released in the UK and Australia, as well. But her book publisher announced they were delaying the UK and Australia releases of Rebel Rising “to coincide with Rebel Wilson’s press tours.” But Rebel wants us all to know that her schedule has NOTHING to do with this. On Friday, she posted a photo of her book with the caption, “UK & AUS momentarily delayed by a**hole… but not for long.” And by a**hole, we all know she means Sacha Baron Cohen. Rebel wrote about how Sasha was a nightmare to work with while filming The Brothers Grimsby, pressuring her to get naked and asking her to perform lewd scenes without getting her consent beforehand. He denies these claims and is paying his attorneys a small fortune to block the release. Sacha’s also been racking up lawyers fees in his divorce. We found out on Friday that he and Isla Fisher filed for divorce last year after more than 20 years together and almost 14 years of marriage.

Jelly Roll and his crew were flying private to Austin for the CMT Awards when their jet had to make an emergency landing after the engine stopped. Apparently, it was an issue with the plane’s computer. Thankfully, everyone eventually made it safely to Austin, where Jelly Roll was the big winner Sunday night. He took home Male Video of the Year, CMT Performance of the Year and Video of the Year for Need a Favor. Female Video of the Year went to Lainey Wilson for Watermelon Moonshine. Dan + Shay took Duo/Group Video of the Year for Save Me the Trouble. And Jane Seymour presented Trisha Yearwood the very first June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award. Toby Keith passed away in February after a long battle with stomach cancer. To honor him, Sammy Hagar, Brooks & Dunn and Lainey Wilson performed some of Toby’s biggest hits, and then the entire audience toasted him with red solo cups.

Morgan Wallen was nominated for Male Video of the Year for Last Night, but opted to hit up the grand opening of Eric Church’s new bar in Nashville last night instead. That was his first mistake. His second was throwing a chair from the sixth floor of Chief’s Bar, which landed about three feet from where two Nashville police officers were standing. Video proved Morgan was the one who threw it and witnesses told the officers that he even laughed afterwards. Shortly before 11pm, Morgan was arrested on 3 counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, with bail set at $15,520. He made bail and was released around 3:30 this morning. Morgan is due back in court on May 3, which actually works out because Morgan is performing at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on May 2 and 3.
