Steve Harvey was back to host the Miss Universe Pageant, and this time, he got it completely right. Congratulations to Miss France Iris Mittenaere for winning this years spectacular crown. Miss Haiti was first runner up followed by Miss Colombia.
The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were last night. In case you missed it, “Hidden Figures” won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, while Denzel Washington won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his role in “Fences” and Emma Stone won the award for her role in “La La Land.” Over on the television side of things, network television pretty much got shut out. “Stranger Things” won for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and “Orange Is the New Black” won in the Comedy Series category. Outstanding Performances by a Male and Female Actor in a Drama Series went to John Lithgow and Claire Foy for their roles in “The Crown.” And the Comedy Acting Awards went to William H. Macy from “Shameless” and Julia Louis-Dreyfus for “Veep.”
Mischa Barton was hanging over her backyard fence, claiming the world was ending and her mom is a witch. But she says there was a very good reason for her crazy behavior. She was slipped a date rape drug. Mischa says she’d been out with friends celebrating her 31st birthday and while she was having drinks, she said, “I realized that something was not right as my behavior was becoming erratic and continued to intensify over the next several hours.” Mischa says she voluntarily got professional help and it was the hospital staff who told her she’d been given GHB. She says she hopes this serves as a lesson to all young women to be aware of their surroundings.
“La La Land” is winning awards left and right and it has a record-tying 14 Oscar nominations, and we can only imagine that Emma Watson and Miles Teller are kicking themselves over losing out on the lead roles. Reportedly, both Emma and Miles lost out on the roles because they were too demanding. Miles was offered $4 million but said he wouldn’t do it for less than $6 million. And Emma demanded that rehearsals be held in London, which producers were willing to do, but then she hemmed and hawed about it until she decided the movie wasn’t right for her. So ultimately, the roles went to Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, and, reportedly, the other Emma and Miles are freaking out and looking for someone else to blame.
Things are racing along quickly for Selena Gomez, who has now made her relationship with The Weeknd Instagram official. The two of them are on a romantic vacation in Italy, where Selena has been draping herself all over The Weeknd while paparazzi and tourists happily snap away on their cameras.
