Stassi Schroeder’s Mom is Fighting

“Urban Contemporary” category is now… A&E reality show update… Iggy Azalea gave birth to a son… Gwen Stefani &d Blake Shelton want marriage… and Stassi Schroeder’s mom is fighting

Changes are coming for both the Grammys and the Oscars. As far as the Grammys, they’ve been criticized over their Best New Artist awards for decades. So moving forward, there is no longer a maximum number of releases that would keep an artist from being considered for that category. I didn’t realize this, but their 30-song limit prevented Whitney Houston and Lady Gaga from being nominated for Best New Artist. Lifting that limit is expected to benefit younger artists, rappers in particular, who tend to release way more than 30 songs a year. Other changes include renaming Best Rap/Sung Performance to Best Melodic Rap Performance. Best Urban Contemporary Album will now be called Best Progressive R&B Album. And this twist…..the Latin Pop Album is now Best Latin Pop or Urban Album, while Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album is just Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album. And the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences had its annual Board of Governors election. The number of female Academy governors has increased from 25 to 26, and people of color increases from 11 to 12, including the three governors-at-large. And for the first time, Ava DuVernay has been elected to head the Directors Branch of the board.

Remember how “Live PD” host Dan Abrams said fans shouldn’t worry because the show was coming back. Scratch that. In March of 2019, producers for the show were riding with officers in Austin, Texas, when they tried to get a guy to pull over for failing to dim his headlights, but he ended up leading them on a 22-minute chase. Officers then tased Javier Ambler four times, even though he told them he suffered from congestive heart failure and that he couldn’t breathe. He reportedly cried, “Save me!” before receiving the final, fatal shock. This week, A&E confirmed, “…Video of the tragic death of Javier Ambler was captured by body cams worn on the officers in evolved as well by the producers of ‘Live PD’ who were riding with certain officers involved.” That video was never aired on the show, but when investigators asked producers to turn over the footage, they were told it had all been destroyed. So now A&E has made the decision to cancel the series, and Dan Abrams said he was “shocked and beyond disappointed” and wanted fans to know he did everything he could to keep the show going.

Back in December, there were rumors that Iggy Azalea and her boyfriend Playboi Carti were expecting a child and she was about 6 months along. Yesterday, she finally confirmed the news on her IG Story. “I have a son. I kept waiting for the right time to say something but it feels like the more time passes the more I realise I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world. I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret and I love him beyond words.” Iggy didn’t reveal the name, the birth date or a photo.

A source told Us Weekly that Gwen Stefani is ready to marry Blake Shelton. Gwen really wanted to be married in the Catholic church, so last year, she reportedly began the formal process of having her first marriage to Gavin Rossdale annulled. The whole process could take YEARS, and at the time, their source said Gwen was willing to wait as long as she had to. But the coronavirus has given Gwen a whole new perspective, and she’s ready to marry Blake NOW. Well, almost. The source said, “Gwen wants to have a ceremony and reception with their family and friends. She didn’t wait this long to get married with family watching on Zoom.” So they’re planning to have the ceremony when the social distancing guidelines are listed.

Stassi Schroeder’s mom and her 15-year-old brother are both begging Stassi’s fans to help her get her job back. Stassi and Kristen Doute were both fired for trying to get former cast member Faith Stowers arrested because they thought she looked like a woman wanted for robbing men. A new Instagram called “StandUpAndSupportStassi” was started, asking followers to call Stassi’s former PR agency to ask them to take her back and directing them to a Change.org petition demanding Bravo rehire her for “Vanderpump Rules.” There’s a section asking you to post your reason for signing and among the first comments I saw were:

“I’m signing due to the fact that bravo was aware of such actions long before the increase of awareness for those of color. They chose to do this to make their own point, not lose viewers in fear of also being prejudice, not because of racial beliefs. While I do not condone such behavior, we have ALL been on the side of a mistake or ignorance. The cancel culture, should be canceled.”

“I do not think their actions were because of faith’s race I think they truly thought it was faith. I am not saying what they did was right at all but they also did this 2-3 years ago! If really believed they were racist you should have fired them back then. It is ridiculous that they lose their jobs the show they started because people decided they were outraged 3 years later! You could have used this as positive and had them address it on the show. I will not watch VPR without them.”

“Because Bravo only made this decision because they were afraid of backlash. They didn’t care at all when the event actually transpired, and the girls should be educated instead of having their lives ruined. Cancel culture is not the way to create a more inclusive society.”
