This is bad. Former tennis pro James Blake was on his way to the US Open yesterday when he was tackled onto a on the sidewalk by five plain-clothed police officers and put in cuffs. Apparently, James bears a striking resemblance to a man wanted in an identity theft ring. When they realized their mistake, officers let him go, but Blake suffered a cut to his elbow and bruises to his leg. But James told the New York Daily News he believes the race factor was involved. He said, “You’d think they could say, ‘Hey, we want to talk to you. We are looking into something.’ I was just standing there. I wasn’t running.” He would like an apology from the police department and for the officers involved to be punished. The NY Police Commissioner says if James’ version of the events is true, it’s “very disturbing.” The department is investigating.
Patrick Dempsey didn’t have to wait long to find his next gig. After being killed off on “Grey’s Anatomy,” Patrick is super close to finalizing a deal to join the cast of “Bridget Jones’ Baby” with Renee Zellweger as Bridget and Colin Firth as Mark Darcy. Since we know Hugh Grant isn’t coming back as Daniel Cleaver, maybe Patrick will play a new guy who’s battling Mark for Bridget’s affection!
Rihanna has apparently moved on from race car driver Louis Hamilton because sources say she’s hooking up with rapper Travis Scott, who co-wrote RiRi’s song, “B**** Better Have My Money.” Rihanna went to see him perform three nights in a row and eyewitnesses say they were “extremely close” and “definitely together” partying afterward at 1Oak in NYC.
Britney Spears had a big announcement on her Instagram yesterday! She posted a video announcing, “Okay I have some big news tonight. Usually, I get you guys to help me count to three, but tonight, I want you to help me count to two because I’m going to be in Vegas for two more years!”
Sources have told RadarOnline.com that things are not going well behind the scenes at “The View.” The source says Whoopi hates the new set and isn’t happy with how it makes her look on camera. Plus, she’s ticked that producers no longer consult her about new hires or get her input on what will make the show work. And show creator Barbara Walters’ role behind the scenes has been so marginalized that she’s stopped trying to give any feedback. One source says it ratings don’t improve fast, “The View” could be canceled as early as January.
