Weekend box office news… Drake and Diddy bury the hatchet… Janet Jackson announces new music… Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” star studded music video… and Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris kiss at 2015 Billboard Music Awards
Take THAT, “Mad Max!” “Pitch Perfect 2” is not only the number one movie at the box office, it’s officially the biggest opening for a movie musical EVER. “Pitch Perfect 2” opened with $70.3 million, while “Mad Max: Fury Road” debuted in second with $44.4 million. Coming in third was “Avengers: Age of Ultron” with $38.8 million.
Drake and Diddy haven’t exactly been getting along. It started back in December. Diddy felt disrespected by Drake over some track and actually put his hands on him. But according to TMZ, the feud ended with a simple phone call. Both of them have a lot going on this summer and realized they were going to cross paths several times. And with their entourages in the mix, they realized things could get more violent. But what it all boils down to is money. A source told TMZ that Drake and Diddy decided to clear the air because they would rather make money than make war.
It’s been a bit of a running joke — Free Janet Jackson! But seriously, ever since she married this Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Mana, it was like Janet dropped off the face of the earth. But Janet is alive and well. In fact, she celebrated her 49th birthday Saturday with a big Twitter video announcement. “I promised you’d hear it from my lips, and now you will. This year: new music, new world tour, a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going.”
The anticipation was killing us! We’ve all been waiting for the big premiere of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video, which kicked off the Billboard Music Awards last night. The question now is, who WASN’T in it? That would be Katy Perry, who this song reportedly is about. And why weren’t Taylor’s new BFFs Haim in there? Huh. But here’s who was:
- Taylor Swift as Catastrophe

Among the winners of the 2015 Billboard Music Awards last night was Taylor Swift, who won 8 trophies including Top Female Artist. She also used the night to officially declare that she is with Calvin Harris. She even kissed him on the cheek in front of everybody! Sam Smith won for Top Male Artist and Top New Artist. Since he recently had vocal cord surgery, he pulled a “Love Actually” move and used cue cards to thank everyone. One Direction won Top Duo/Group and Top Touring Artist. Very classy of them to thank Zayn in their acceptance speech….
