A “total” solar eclipse also cut across the U.S. 45 years ago in 1979.  Only a few states in the Pacific Northwest got to see the full thing back then, but people in other states were excited too.  An NBC affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth posted their coverage from February 26th, 1979.
