Have you ever noticed sticks of butter on the West Coast are different than on the East Coast? 

The eastern U.S. gets longer, skinnier ones called “Elgin sticks.”  They’re named after Elgin, Illinois.  And the ones out west are called “Western Stubbys.”

Some guy posted a TikTok on the history of how it happened.  Basically, the Midwest dominated the butter game for a long time until California got in on the action in the 1960s.
