Historically, January is one of the slowest months at the box office. This January decided not to shake things up. Wonka is still number one, taking in another $14.4M in its fourth week of release. Globally, the movie has earned $465M. The new Night Swim opened in second with just $12M. It only cost $15M to make and globally, it earned $17.7M so at least they’ve already broken even. But word of mouth isn’t going to help this one because critics hate Night Swim. On RottenTomatoes.com it sits at 26% positive reviews, and the verified audience score is only 44 percent. Coming in third is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom with $10.6M, but that could change when the final box office numbers are out later today because Migration is trailing super close behind with $10.5M. Rounding out the top five is Anyone But You with $9.5M.

Way back in the fall of 2020 Ariana Grande blessed us with her Positions album. Even though she released a dirty re-edit of her Christmas song Santa Tell Me over the holidays, Ariana announced on her Instagram yesterday that she’s about to drop her first new brand new solo single this coming Friday. She posted a blurry close-up selfie with a bold red lip and captioned it, “yes, and? (heart outline emoji) 1.12.” So we assume the new single is called Yes, And? and that we’re getting it on Friday. And in her IG Stories, she’s posting and reposting a lot of the same photo with links to pre-order. At the top of the comments is Nicki Minaj, who posted, “Queen. We are ready.”

Kelly Clarkson shares custody of her 9-year-old daughter River Rose and 7-year-old son Remington Alexander with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. Just like every parent, Kelly’s kids are bugging her about being on social media, but for now, she is forbidding it. She says social media is hard on kids anyway, but it’s next-level difficult when their parents are in the public eye. And just like every parent of a feisty pre-teen, Kelly told People, “My daughter was like, ‘Well, what if Dad lets me?’ I’m like, ‘Well, you’re there four days a month. Enjoy that.’ And right now he’s not letting them do it either…” Kelly added, “I’ll listen when they’re older, but until they have a solid argument, it’s a no.”

The official lineup hasn’t been announced but a website called HitsDailyDouble says Lana Del Rey and Tyler the Creator are two of the acts set to headline Coachella, set for the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21 in Indio, California. The website says Doja Cat is believed to be the third headliner, but that’s not confirmed. HitsDailyDouble says Coachella pushed hard for Dua Lipa but it just doesn’t fit into her schedule. And even though Shakira’s team reportedly fought for her to have a headlining slot, the website said Coachella passed. Other acts rumored to be in talks to perform include Peso Pluma, Olivia Rodrigo, Travis Scott and the Rolling Stones. However, we won’t know anything for sure until Coachella makes the official announcement, which should be any day now.

Even though he wasn’t playing, Travis Kelce still had to show up off the Chiefs vs. Chargers game, which the Chiefs won, by the way, 13-12. So Taylor Swift took Keleigh Teller — aka, Miles’ wife — as her plus one to the Golden Globes. Taylor wore a slinky green dress, which many Swifties believe was a clue about which album she will re-release next. (There are only two left — her debut album and Reputation — so everyone has a 50/50 shot of being right.) A lot of professional lip readers are working overtime trying to figure out the jaw-dropping gossip Selena Gomez whispered to Taylor. (The consensus is that Selena asked Timothée Chalet for a photo and Kylie Jenner said no.) But Taylor was the first to stand up and give them a standing ovation, but after losing the Golden Globe to Barbie in this new category called Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, Taylor peaced out. Swifties don’t think it’s because Taylor is a sore loser. They also don’t think it’s because she raced out to catch a flight home with Travis. Swifties believe it’s because Taylor didn’t find a joke host Jo Koy made at her expense to be the least bit funny, and neither did Ana! Jo said, “The difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots to Taylor Swift.” Cut to Taylor reaching down to grab her champagne glass for a nice long swig, showing ZERO emotion.
