Country music legend Toby Keith passed away yesterday after a battle with stomach cancer. He was only 62. Toby first told us about his cancer battle in June 2022, revealing, “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good.” At that time, Toby’s publicist said he wouldn’t be doing any performances while he underwent treatment. Then in June of last year, Toby told us that things were going well. He said, “Basically, everything is in a real positive trend, but you never know with cancer, so you have to prepare.” Then in November, Toby released what would be his last album, 100% Songwriter. Toby realized how much he missed performing, and decided to get the band back together for a couple of shows in Vegas. Those would be his last public performances. Yesterday, on his Instagram, a clip of that Vegas concert was posted, with the crowd cheering for Toby as he raised his guitar into the air. It was captioned, “And that’s a wrap on the weekend, y’all. Back to it.” And then this morning, was another Instagram post saying, “Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.” Toby is survived by his wife, Tricia. They met right after Keith graduated high school, when he was working in the oil fields and playing bars at night. They dated for 3 years and married in 1984. This year would’ve been their 40th anniversary. When they got married, Toby adopted Tricia’s daughter Shelley, and they went on to have two children together, their daughter Krystal and son Stelen. Krystal gave her dad two granddaughters, Kirby and Hensley.

Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Ryan Seacrest are all back for Season 22 of American Idol, which returns Feb.18. And we just found out that Tori Kelly will serve as a guest mentor! If you can remember way back to Season 9, a then 18-year-old Tori only made it to Hollywood Week before she was eliminated! But that didn’t stop her. Tori went on to self-release her debut EP Handmade Songs, and she won two Grammys for her second studio album, Hiding Place.

Can Oprah make it all better? When Britney Spears’ memoir came out back in October, Justin Timberlake felt the wrath of her fans. He thought it would all blow over by the time his new music came out a couple weeks ago, but he couldn’t have been more wrong. A source told the The Sun, “Justin is really not happy how things have gone down. He wanted the music to speak for itself, but that’s clearly not happening.” And Justin saying onstage last week that he wasn’t apologizing to (BLANKING) anybody only made things worse. The source said, “The idea of a sit-down chat with someone like Oprah Winfrey was floated months and is now back on the cards.”

Buckingham Palace announced yesterday that when King Charles was treated for his enlarged prostate, doctors discovered he had cancer. They didn’t specify what time of cancer, but he reportedly has already begun outpatient treatment. A source told the Daily Mail that King Charles is grateful the cancer was caught very early and the prognosis is good. Before news was made public, King Charles called his sons William and Harry to tell them the news. Harry jumped on the first British Airways flight he could get and flew 11 hours to London Heathrow. Royal experts say Harry’s trip to England could be the sign of a truce between him and his estranged family.

While accepting her 13th Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Sunday night, Taylor Swift revealed she’s dropping a brand new album and then immediately shared the cover art on social media. She captioned it, “All’s fair in love and poetry… New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out April 19.” And with that, the Swifties who thought she let Joe Alwyn off easy with her Midnights album are now thinking Joe better buckle up! Even the title of her new album looks like a direct dig at Joe. Back in December 2022, Joe and Paul Mescal were doing that Actors on Actors interview bit and talked about their WhatsApp group called The Tortured Man Club. Joe said, “It hasn’t has much use recently,” to which Paul responded, “I feel like we’re less tortured now.” Even though we wouldn’t find out till four months later, this would’ve been right when Joe and Taylor had broken up. So were they joking that Taylor was the cause of the torture?? She must’ve taken in that way, thus the title of her new album. And then Taylor released all the song titles yesterday and some of them are practically screaming Joe’s name, like So Long, London, But Daddy I Love Him, I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. Ouch. Taylor’s new album also features two collaborations: Fortnight with Post Malone and Florida!!! with Florence + the Machine.
