Weekend box office news… “Dancing With the Stars” newest competitors… Angelina Jolie is upset about an interview… JLo is so proud of Alex Rodriguez… and Dr. Luke suing Kesha for defamation

It just goes to show that no matter how bad the reviews are, put out a cartoon movie in the dog days of summer and parents will haul their kids in there to see it. As of last check, “The Emoji Movie” earned only 8 percent positive reviews on RottenTomatoes.com. But who cares! It came close to beating “Dunkirk,” which was still number one with just over $28 million. “The Emoji Movie” earned close to $26 million for second. Coming in third was “Girls Trip” with $20.1 million, followed by the new Charlize Theron movie, “Atomic Blonde,” with $18.5 million. And “Spider-Man: Homecoming” came in fifth with another $13.5 million.

“Dancing With the Stars” loves having competitors from “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” but it’s USUALLY the Bachelor or the Bachelorette! However, producers love a good controversy, and they’re reportedly looking at DeMario Jackson as a possible competitor for next season. How great would it be — or not — if they got Corrine Olympios to compete, as well? We’d learn REAL fast whose side America is really on in that “Bachelor In Paradise” controversy…

Angelina Jolie is very upset with an excerpt released form her recent Vanity Fair interview that described the audition process for her movie, “First They Killed My Father.” The magazine says casting directors played a “game” with poor Cambodian children from “orphanages, circuses and slum schools,” where they put money on a table and asking the child to think of something she needed the for and then snatching it away to get their reaction. But Angelina says it was nowhere near that cruel of an audition process. It was all improvisation. Angelina says, “The suggestion that real money was taken from a child during an audition is false and upsetting. I would be outraged myself if this had happened.”

Alex Rodriguez was about 10 minutes into signing autographs at a sports memorabilia show in Chicago when Jennifer Lopez quietly walked out from behind a curtain and sat next to her man. She just sat their grinning with pride as her man signed stuff for fans. Jennifer would stand up every once in a while to take pictures of him doing his thing, but she never signed anything. By the way, if you show up to have ARod sign something, it’s a minimum of $150.

Dr. Luke is suing Kesha, saying she falsely accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting her. And now he is trying to subpoena Lady Gaga to testify in the case and also turn over ALL the texts Kesha sent her back in 2013. According to Dr. Luke’s lawyer, Gaga already sent over a “heavily-redacted, four-page spreadsheet of text messages,” but they want to see EVERYTHING. Meantime, Gaga has been dodging attempts to sit down for a deposition since March! Her lawyer says she’s simply way too busy. So now they’re going to ask a judge to force her to sit down and talk.
