Weekend box office news… A couple of celebrity weddings… Bella Thorne hanging with Scott Disick… Katy Perry and Coldplay’s Chris Martin?… and Remy Ma beats Nicki Minaj at BET Awards
“Transformers: The Last Knight” is the fifth movie in the franchise. It debuted in first place with $69.1 million this weekend, which is the lowest debut of any movie in the franchise. It’s neck-and-neck for second…so close that we may as well call it a tie. “Wonder Woman” earned $25.2 million and “Cars 3” took in $25.1 million. “47 Meters Down” came in fourth with just $7.4 million and “All Eyez On Me” rounded out the top five with $5.9 million.
A couple of celebrity weddings this weekend. Olympic ice skater Tara Lipinski married Fox Sports feature producer Todd Kapostasy Saturday at the historic Middleton Place in Charleston, SC. And on the same day, “Dancing With the Stars” co-host Erin Andrews married former NHL player Jarret Stoll at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. That also happened to be the groom’s 35 birthday.
I thought he had problems with her hygiene and he partied too hard for her liking. Well, apparently she took a shower and realized a good PR opportunity when she saw one, but for whatever reason Bella Thorne decided to start hanging with Scott Disick again. The two of them were holding hands as they left 1OAK in West Hollywood, where Lana Del Rey was having her birthday party. Remember, Scott took Bella to Cannes to make Kourtney Kardashian jealous, but she didn’t give a rip because she was hanging out with her much-younger model boyfriend Younes Bendjima on a yacht. RadarOnline.com has found out that Kourtney ended up dumping Younes on that trip because he told her he was falling in love with her and Kourtney wasn’t feeling it. A source says the age gap was too much and, while he was good for her in a lot of ways, Kourtney just couldn’t relate to him.
Could this be a new celebrity couple alert? Sources say Katy Perry and Coldplay’s Chris Martin were very cozy at the Glastonbury music festival over the weekend, holding hands as they watched Stormzy perform Saturday night. Afterward, they were walking hand-in-hand to the VIP area, but when a fan recognized her, a source says she dropped Chris’ hand like she was trying not to get caught. But once they got inside VIP, they were back holding hands and enjoying each other’s company. You may remember that back in 2014, Chris revealed that he was listening to a lot of Katy Perry while writing Coldplay’s hit, “A Sky Full of Stars.” But Chris could just be playing the field because Friday night, people are saying he was openly making out with Dua Lipa in the VIP area. But both of them are denying it.
If you missed the BET Awards hosted by Leslie Jones, you missed performances by Bruno Mars, Mary J. Blige, French Montana, Chris Brown and Gucci Mane, DJ Khaled and a reunited Xscape, just to name a few. Beyonce couldn’t be there because she just had her twins, but she won five awards, including Album of the Year for “Lemonade.” Chance the Rapper received the Humanitarian Award for his pledge to donate a million dollars to Chicago’s public schools. New Edition received the Lifetime Achievement Award and performed a medley of their hits with all six members. But the moment everybody should be talking about is when Remy Ma won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist — ending her enemy Nicki Minaj’s seven-year winning streak. Remy last won this award in 2005. But then she got into trouble for shooting somebody and had to go to prison for three years. After she got out, she released a song ripping Nicki called “SHEther.” Now, wouldn’t it have been interesting if Nicki had been sitting out there in the audience when Remy’s name was called instead of hers? Yes, it would! But Nicki skipped the BET Awards last night. A source told HollywoodLife.com there were several reasons behind her decision, but one of them is NOT that Nicki is afraid of Remy. The source says, “And besides, she’s a very busy lady with a performance at the NBA Awards scheduled for Monday. She has little time to attend the BETs and honestly feels like the show is beneath her, too.”
